My Hero Dad

Daddy, are you lonesome?
When you look wistfully
at other children with their dads,
I'm sure you think of me.
It could have been so different,
but maybe no one knew
how much you would have meant to me
how much I'd mean to you.

I guess we both get wistful
at the fun we might have had,
With me the faithful shadow
of you, my Hero Dad.
But Daddy, please don't worry,
for things are fine with me,
Apart from missing you and Mom,
I'm happy as can be.

The day I died, God held me close
and helped me understand
why no one tried to save me
from abortion's cruel hand.
But Daddy, let me tell you that,
whatever was your part,
I love you and forgive you
from the bottom of my heart.

Go on with life, stay close to God,
and try not to be sad,
For here with God I still can be
the shadow of my Dad.
I'll follow you, and pray for you,
and be your soul-mate, too.
Whatever lies in store,
I'll always help to see you through?

And Daddy, guess who you'll see first
when you reach Heaven's gate?
Oh won't that blissful meeting
be worth the long, long wait!
How full of joy we both will be,
how happy and how glad,
When I jump up into your arms,
My own dear Hero Dad!

Your aborted child
